Being seen is something that many of us struggle with.

Why? What are we afraid of?

When we are seen, we are most vulnerable, most exposed, and most open to criticism and judgment. There is fear of not being good enough, of being fundamentally flawed or broken, somehow unfixable. If you have felt these worries, know that you are not alone.

I relate. Recently, with the launch of this business, I have also struggled with these fears. All the “what ifs.” What if it doesn’t work out? What if nobody else likes it? What if it all blows up in my face? When I notice these thoughts creeping in, I also tend to notice the fear physically. My shoulders seem constantly tight, my breath comes shorter and more shallow, and I get headaches from clenching my jaw.

If I am paying attention, I can use these physical signs to remember to practice my self-care skills: deep breathing, grounding, and prayer. These always help to come into the present moment. In these moments of presence, I can reconnect to myself, my larger vision, and get a handle on the fears that seem to rush in to overtake me in a moment of weakness. There is just enough space to ask…

What about the other side of the visibility coin?

What are the positive outcomes of being seen and sharing ourselves?

Do we have a chance to grow and become more of who we are?

Do we have a chance of being loved more deeply?

Do we have an opportunity for more freedom?

Yes, to all of these and more.

Let this be your prayer for the day or the week: Higher Self/God/Universe, give me the strength to stand in my true self and the courage to face my fears.
